President orders relief, rehab ops
PRESIDENT Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo directed disaster management teams Saturday to undertake immediate relief and rehabilitation work in areas affected by Typhoon Santi (international codename: Mirinae).
Press Secretary Cerge Remonde over government-run dzRB radio said that Arroyo also called up local disaster management officials to follow up on her order.
“She ordered the Department of Public Works and Highways to undertake clearing operations immediately,” Remonde said.
The President already talked to disaster coordinating council chairmen at the regional and provincial levels Friday night on the matter. (more)
