The Sun.Star Economic Forum is an annual presentation and discussion of economic issues and business opportunities in Cebu.
Last year’s maiden staging of the event drew hundreds of participants, who gained from the wisdom of high-profile speakers like Vicente Valdepeñas, a member of the Monetary Board, the policy-making body of the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas; Lilia Bautista, chairman of the Securities and Exchange Commission; and Glenn Westerman, Lexmark International (Phils.) Inc. president and chief executive officer.
Also on hand to share their insights were Noel Mendoza, president of IBM Solutions Delivery, and Jesus Romero, vice president of GlobeQuest.
For this year’s run, the Sun.Star Economic Forum will have for its theme: “Investing in Cebu: Signposts for Success.” It will discuss the potentials of Cebu as a market and investment destination, as well as the investment climate for growth.
Among the speakers will be Philippine Long Distance Telephone Co. and Smart Communications Inc. president and chief executive officer Napoleon Nazareno and Dr. Ernesto Pernia, former lead economist of the Asian Development Bank.
The forum will also feature a multi-sectoral discussion on the possible new businesses that may be undertaken in Cebu, from the point of view of the private sector.
