WITH the promising income it gives to farmers, the town of La Trinidad is not the only one cultivating strawberries nowadays.
Dr. Silverstre Kudan of the Benguet State University (BSU) College of Agriculture said strawberry growing is now expanding to other municipalities in the province.(more)

BAGUIO CITY — Threats of spread of the bird flu virus failed to dampen the spirit of local officials of Rizal town in Kalinga, as 2,000 ducks have been reserved for their Pinikpikan Festival.
Rizal Mayor Marcel dela Cruz said the festival could help boost the town’s agro-industrial and eco-tourism industries. (more)

AS THE local government of La Trinidad gears up for the staging of this year’s Strawberry Festival, extensive preparations are also underway on the part of the local police station.
Preparations done this year are more meticulous as government officials, to include President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, are expected to join the festivity.(more)

AFTER more than a year, the municipality of La Trinidad finally got the title it has long been waiting for.
Mayor Nestor Fongwan announced that the Strawberry Butter Cake, which the town baked in 2005, was entered into the Guinness Book of World Records as the largest fruit shortcake ever baked.
The municipality received the confirmation last May 31.
This, as Fongwan said they are now preparing for the staging of the fourth strawberry cake festival next year. (more…)
