Himamaylan lass crowned Ms. Earth-Mambukal
MAMBUKAL — Notwithstanding her previous failures in her attempt of gaining one of the highest achievements in a beauty pageant, 20-year-old lass from Himamaylan City, finally had the best time of her life after winning the Miss Earth-Mambukal 2007 held at the Mambukal Resort in Minoyan, Murcia Saturday night.
Grazel Torrecampo, a fourth year college student, taking up Electronics and Communications Engineering (ECE) at the Technological University of the Philippines (TUP), was hailed second runner-up in the last year’s search for Lin-ay sg Himamaylan and a first runner-up in their school’s beauty tilt.(more)
Mud, mud, mud at Mambukal

NUMEROUS spectators of the Mudpack 2007 in Mambukal Resort, Murcia town were stunned Sunday, as one daring participant in the tribal dance competition partly bare their bodies while dancing nude.
The group identified as Lumang Lahi were composed of 15 boys were reportedly danced with mud paintings all over their naked bodies and with their g-strings on while performing when they suddenly dropped their covers at the end of the stunning performance.
“We were partly surprised with their performance and we never thought that the activity would differently end like that,” Rudy Reveche, event coordinator of the 11th Mudpack 2007, said.
“They were not successful in taking the spot for the best tribal dance, though, but they
surely had the applause and appreciation of the crowd especially for the kind of performance they had,” Reveche said.
Winning the tribal dance event was Tribu Dos followed by Poseidon and Acacia on the second and third places, respectively.
While the solo dance contest was won by Danilo Barredo followed by Edwin Sayson and Blessed Cañete.
Other winners in the numerous events held at the Ishiwata Ground are the Tribu Bagong Sibul Drumbeaters, who took the first place in the Drumbeating Competition followed by Tribu Ilahas and Tribu Badias in the second and third places respectively.
For the individual competitions, the Mixed Media Art Painting was won by Peody Nicol for the first place followed by Kris Claor and Katsang Alob.
For the body painting contest, Alvin Tagalog took the first place while Andre Giner and Reneus Agay were named second and third winners respectively.
