CAT scanned: Science High’s CAT Corps Commander
WHILE most high school seniors would dread the thought of spending scorching hot CAT (Citizens’ Army Training) formations on after-school hours and weekends, this scholar from the Cebu City National Science High School (CCNSHS) already harbored a zealous ambition of being a military man as early as his elementary days.
Sixteen-year-old Rydale Pintor eventually got his prize after he was designated as the Corps Commander of CCNSHS’ CAT-1 Unit. Of course, that’s after going (or should we say breezing) through two weeks of rigorous training during last year’s summer vacation.
“The thought of intense physical training did not scare me at all even when I was still a freshman. For me, it’s a nice opportunity to develop my leadership skills,” says Rydale, who also loves airplanes and enriching his general information bank.
After graduating from high school this March, Rydale plans to take up mechanical engineering but still sets his sights (and heart) at entering the PMA or flying school someday.
