Right after Easter the parish of St. Therese will celebrate with their missionary priest-pastor, Fr. Francis, his golden jubilee as a priest. At the end of the jubilee mass the choir will render “Handel’s Halleluiah” as well as the Latin song, “Gaudeamus igitur” (Therefore let us rejoice).

At Easter when peoples of all ages have all the reason to say, “Thank you!” I fondly recall the years I served in the island parishes of Siargao, Socorro and Dinagat. As the Easter Vigil comes to a close, the parishioners, instead of going home to sleep then get up early the next day, would immediately hold the traditional “sugat” with the men folk processing in one direction in order to meet with the women coming from the other direction.

THE Archdiocese of Cebu continues being relevant to today’s youth with the holding of the 11th Vocation Jamboree (VocJam) at the Cebu International Convention Center last February 23.

With the theme “Our Way: Jesus,” the gathering aimed to help young people discern God’s will for them. It gathered 10,000 participants from various schools and religions organizations.

Cebu Archbishop Ricardo Cardinal Vidal said the core of the activity was to let the youth understand the meaning of discernment and how a vocation search-in can be a tool for that.

THREE high school students made Talisay City proud for romping off with top awards in the recently-held regional and national science quiz contests.

In three separate resolutions, the Talisay City Council commended AC Griffith C. Caruana, Ritchie R. Abella and Melvic C. Ybañez, all of Talisay City Science High School (TCSHS), “for giving honor and prestige to the City of Talisay as achievers of the year.” (Continue reading)

Michelle: A friend whom I haven’t heard from for sometime sent me a text message that made me detect something was different about him or something was amiss in his love life. He said “you can only truly fall in love with one person. And the others? Well, they just make your heart beat. You’ll get to meet a lot of people but there’s only one to who you’ll fully give your heart. Sure, you’ll get attracted to many. But what you’ll have are just feelings. Whether you play around or not, there will only be one person for you in the end. It can be hard finding that person and even harder to feel that emotion. But I’ve been told, it can happen. I don’t know if my friend, who I know to be a player, has gone the straight and narrow road. Maybe he’s been hit by cupid’s arrow and has finally fallen in love. Is there such a thing as one true love?
