(Updated, 11:47 a.m.) YURI Foreman continued his winning streak as he wrested the WBA super-welterweight title from defending champion Daniel Santos with a unanimous decision victory.
Foreman, who now holds a clean 28-0 win-loss record, dropped Santos late in the final 12th round enroute to becoming the first Israeli world champion.
Californian Alfonso Gomez captured the WBC Continental Americas welterweight title with a technical decision win over Jesus Soto-Karass.

BACOLOD City Mayor Evelio Leonardia was featured in the April 29 issue of the Asian Journal, the most widely circulated Filipino-American newspaper all over the United States of America.
The newspaper article, found in the lower portion of the front page and headlined “Pacman’s Lucky Charm,” described how boxing champ Manny Pacquiao’s Catholic devotion and superstitious beliefs became instrumental in forging a strong partnership with Leonardia. (more)
