Pacquiao steps up training vs Diaz

HE USUALLY comes in late for training, but when he does start his work out for a big fight, Manny Pacquiao is killing himself just to be ready for war.

And his coming encounter with David Diaz is no exception, as Pacquiao heightened his training at the Wild Card Gym in Los Angeles, California in preparation for his June 28 date with Diaz for the latter’s World Boxing Council (WBC) ligthweight crown in Las Vegas.(full story)

  • Quijano: Diaz needs that head start

    THE more we prepare in times of peace, the less we bleed in times of war.

    That adage holds true for any sport, and it came to mind when I assessed how much bleeding Manny Pacquiao might be in for his bout with David Diaz on June 28.

    The last time I saw Manny, the WBC super featherweight champion was besieged, swarmed and overwhelmed by hordes of admirers at the Cebu Coliseum for the Rodel Mayol fight. He looked fit and relaxed but clearly was not in training yet. That was about two weeks ago.(full story)

  • EVEN if a lot of people think that the much-awaited debut of World Boxing super featherweight champion Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao to the world of lightweights against David Diaz for the WBC lightweight crown on June 28 at the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino in Las Vegas would be a walk in the park, his long-time trainer Buboy Fernandez thinks differently.

    Fernandez believes that the Filipino superstar shouldn’t underestimate Diaz in their upcoming war.(full story)
