WHAT did I tell you, again? It’s not on until it’s on, not off until it’s off.

First, there was a Pacquiao-Hatton fight. Next, there was none. Then, it was on again.

  • THE highly anticipated Manny Pacquiao-Ricky Hatton boxing encounter was nearly scuttled, all because of money and pride. Blogs and media statements revealed a flurry of verbal exchanges and blows from the boxers, their handlers and the promoters.

    Money was the first issue since the bout is a guaranteed money machine, what with the new status earned by Pacquiao through a convincing win over legendary Oscar de la Hoya. Add to that the well-oiled image build up of Hatton compliments of his agent, Simon Fuller, producer of “American Idol” and handler of David Beckham. (more)

    The megabuck showdown between Manny Pacquiao and Ricky Hatton is on again! For the last few days, the wildly-awaited match up was in a confusing state. Yes now, no tomorrow and finally, yes, yes, and yes! It will go through! The final say on the fight was announced two days ago by no less than the Pacman and his promoter-manager Bob Arum. (more)

  • Espejo: Hell hath no fury

    FOR a supposed refined and manor house-bred Swiss banker, Richard Schaefer’s pathetic tirades at Manny Pacquiao who rejected an “offer” from the camp of British brawler Ricky Hatton bespeak of his lack of sophistication, to say the least.

    On the contrary, he acted like a seething spurned suitor, badmouthing the man he so doggedly pursued before. (more)
