BAGUIO BIGGIE. Here’s to Dr. Rey C. Bautista, the proud father of Mayor Peter Rey Bautista of Baguio City. Dr. Rey became president of Sun.Star Baguio on Wednesday, March 25; surely, it is a boon to this great newspaper. It was Dr. Rey, a scion of the well-respected Bautista family that owns University of Baguio, who opened new doors for me by graciously accommodating my sports column here starting last December 2008. Dr. Rey’s breakthrough move triggered the syndication of the column through the historic imprimatur of Mr. Sonny Garcia, the good and gallant patriarch of Sun.Star. (more)

LIKE Manny Pacquiao, veteran Filipino fighter Gerry Peñalosa faces a daunting task as he is set to fight undefeated Puerto Rican warrior Juan Manuel Lopez for the World Boxing Organization super bantamweight title on April 25 in Puerto Rico.
And in Peñalosa’s next fight, Pacquiao, his close friend, thinks the 36-year-old Cebuano champion will have the edge over Lopez because of his vast experience. (more)
