‘Pacman will win in 6’

ASIDE from his own coach Freddie Roach, no other boxing trainer is more familiar with pound-for-pound king Manny Pacquiao than veteran Mexican boxing trainer Nacho Beristain.

The Mexican trainer has faced Pacquiao thrice.

He was on the opposite side of the ring when the Filipino warrior faced his star student Juan Manuel Marquez twice and he was also in Oscar dela Hoya’s corner when the Golden Boy quit at his stool after the eighth round. (more)

  • Pacquiao not impressive

    WORLD Boxing Organization welterweight titleholder Miguel Cotto isn’t at all intimidated by pound-for-pound king Manny Pacquiao’s recent success in the boxing ring because he thinks that they are both on equal ground.

    Pacquiao’s last two wins elevated him to the number one spot in the coveted pound-for-pound list after he beat Oscar dela Hoya last year and Ricky Hatton last May. (more)

    WORLD Boxing Organization mini-flyweight champion Donnie Nietes got a much-needed help in his training for his third title defense after Manny Pacquiao trainer Freddie Roach gave him tips during his first sparring session yesterday at the Wild Card Gym.

    “So far Donnie’s doing okay, Edmund told me that Freddie was watching his and AJ’s sparring sessions,” ALA Promotions president Michael Aldeguer told Sun.Star Cebu. “Donnie did well in sparring and Freddie was giving him instructions.” (more)

    IN FIELD of human kinetics, boxing champ Manny Pacquiao is regarded as “near-omniscient,” one guy who attempts to explore beyond the limits of human physical power. In fact, many even believe, and Ricky Hatton could be one of them, that Pacquiao’s physical strength has already intruded into the domain of the “divine”.
