Marco Polo’s anniversary affair

By Nelia G. Neri

A year after it formally re-opened, the reigning Queen up the hills of Nivel, now known as Marco Polo Plaza, celebrated with a big bang.

The cocktail affair at the hotel’s Cebu Grand Ballroom brought together a cross section of the Cebu community (government officials, members of the diplomatic corps, people from the travel trade, civic and business leaders) as well as guests from Metro Manila.

On the frontline were three dashing gentlemen - Asia Pacific Top Management Int’l. Resources Corp. chairman Alfred Ty, Marco Polo Plaza president Rey Villar and Marco Polo Plaza general manager Hans Hauri.

The one and only Johnny Litton (Oh, Yes it’s Johnny!) was “imported” from Manila to act as program emcee while sultry singer Vernie Varga was the evening’s entertainer.
