1 dead, 8 hurt in factory blast

MANILA -- A woman was killed and eight others were wounded when a fireworks factory in Angat, Bulacan exploded Monday night, television reports said.
The fatality was identified as Linda Reyes, who lives beside the factory managed by Allan Sarmiento and his wife, Beverly, at Barangay Marungko in Angat.
Reyes died after a wall collapsed on her.
The injured victims, on the other hand, were identified as Gina Biarcal, Angelita Dizo, Edgardo Padua, Julia Jaspe, Angelito Cruz, Juvilyn Alvarez, Alejandro Cruz and Wiwi Lorenzo.
The explosion reportedly took place around 6 p.m. Houses near the factory were also damaged in the blast.
The Sarmiento couple might face charges of reckless imprudence resulting in homicide and multiple physical injuries, the police said.
