Magnitude-5.2 quake hits Ilocos Norte

A MAGNITUDE-5.2 earthquake rocked Ilocos Norte province early Thursday.

According to a radio report, Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) Director Renato Solidum said the quake was recorded at 1:57 a.m. and was tectonic in origin.

The epicenter of the quake was located at 101 kilometers northeast of Laoag City.

Solidum said the quake was felt at Intensity II in Laoag City; Pasuquin, Ilocos Norte; and Sarrat, Ilocos Norte.

No damage or casualty was initially reported from the quake, but state seismologists warned residents of possible aftershock.(Sunnex)
