MOUNT Bulusan in Sorsogon province released ash early Friday, affecting several villages.
Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) Director Renato Solidum said the steam-driven ash explosion occurred at 12:25 a.m.
Solidum said the explosion, which lasted for 11 minutes, was due to rains brought about by Tropical Storm "Bebeng".
He said they already expected the activity of the volcano.
Affected barangays were Bacolod, Buraburan, Caladgaw, Rangas, Puting-Sapa, Sangkayon, Gurayan, and Aniog in Juban town; and Barangays Cogon, Bolos, Umagom, and Gulang-gulang in Irosin town.
The status of Bulusan remains hoisted at Alert Level 1, thus the public are advised not to enter the four-kilometer radius permanent danger zone. (Sunnex)
