MANILA - President Benigno Aquino III has declared August 16, 2011 as a special non-working day in the city of Tuguegarao in celebration of Pav-vurulun Festival.
By virtue of Proclamation 214 signed on August 4, the President declared August 16, which falls on Tuesday, as a special non-working day in the city.
“It is but fitting and proper that the people of the City of Tuguegarao be given full opportunity to celebrate and participate in the occasion with appropriate ceremonies,” the proclamation said.
The Ybanag term pav-vurulun, which means coming together, allows all members of the community to join activities like street-dancing, drum, lyre and bugle competition, beauty pageant, agri-trade and jobs fair.
Another highlight of the event is the outdoor cooking and eating contest of Pancit Batil Patung, a local noodle delicacy the city is famous for.
