MANILA – The Filipino-Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry Inc. (FFCCCII) donated P20 million for the continuing relief and rehabilitation efforts for the areas affected by the recent typhoons.
FFCCCII President Tan Ching personally handed over the cheque to President Benigno Aquino III during a courtesy call in Malacanang Friday morning.
“This P20 million is going to be used for relief and rehabilitation and also for assistance to the calamity victims and this will be used by the DSWD in their efforts,” Presidential spokesperson Edwin Lacierda said in a press briefing after the courtesy call.
Social Welfare Secretary Dinky Soliman was also present during the event.
More than 50 people were killed while thousand others were displaced during the onslaught of back-to-back typhoons Pedring and Quiel.
Heavy rains brought by the typhoons left several provinces in Central Luzon flooded including Bulacan, Tarlac, and Pampanga. (Jill Beltran/Sunnex)
