CEBU CITY (Updated 12:40 p.m.) -- Representative Eduardo Gullas (Cebu province, 1st district) reportedly offered to help the lone survivor of the Ponce family massacre in her education.

A radio report said Gullas wanted to shoulder the expenses of Embrelaince Ponce, 13, who is a second year high school student, if she decides to continue her education at the University of San Carlos (USC) Girls High School.

Gullas also reportedly offered a full scholarship grant to Ponce for her college education in the University of the Visayas (UV). The Gullas family owns UV.

Ponce said earlier that she wanted to finish her sophomore year at the USC Girls High School.

She has not decided yet on Gullas's offer.

Her mother Melinda, 53; sisters Elaine Grace, 26; and Heather Joy, 24; and her brother Emlin Bridge, 18; were shot to death inside their house at Palm View Village in Barangay Tabunok, Talisay City by their father Emmanuel, 55.

Emmanuel also shot their helper Anastacia Deriega, 34. He then killed himself.

A mass was also held in the Ponce residence at 10 a.m. Friday in memory of the victims.

Upon the request of the relatives, Talisay City policemen, barangay and the Talisay City Health Office workers cleaned the Ponces bungalow Thursday morning.

At the wake at the St. Peter Chapels in Cebu City on Thursday, the surviving family changed the burial plans after Emanuel's relatives asked that he be laid to rest in Cebu.

The original arrangement was for the victims, including Emmanuel, to be buried together in Sorsogon City, Bicol, Melinda's hometown.

They are supposed to be transported to Sorsogon on Saturday.

However, upon the request of his family, Emmanuel's remains will be brought to Barangay Mabolo, Cebu City on Friday.

Although Embrelaince earlier said that she wanted her family to stay together even in death, a relative said that she had no choice but to agree to the request of the relatives of her father.

Embrelaince is now staying with her aunt, who lives in Talisay City and works in the City Hall. (Sunnex)
