Low pressure area off Mindanao may bring rains in Cagayan, Quezon

MANILA—Although it won’t turn into a storm, state weather forecasters said a low pressure area off the coast of Mindanao will bring rains in the country’s eastern seaboard in the next few days.
The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) tracked the LPA at 560 kilometers east of Mindanao as of 2 a.m. Monday and is embedded along the intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ) affecting Visayas and Mindanao.
With this, Science and Technology Undersecretary Graciano Yumul warned of moderate to heavy rains along Eastern Luzon (Cagayan-Quezon) on Friday.
The rest of the country, meanwhile, will be partly cloudy to cloudy with isolated rainshowers and thunderstorms especially this long weekend.
“No tropical cyclone is expected to enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) until Sunday,” Yumul said. (Virgil Lopez/Sunnex)
