MANILA -- The first Filipino diagnosed with Middle East Respiratory Syndrome - Corona Virus (Mers-Cov), an overseas Filipino worker (OFW), is now ready to be discharged from quarantine, the Department of Health (DOH) said.
“The two tests done to the index passenger yielded negative results, hence, the passenger is now ready for discharge,” said Dr. Lyndon Lee Suy, DOH Emerging Infectious Diseases Program Manager.

KATMANDU, Nepal -- Search teams recovered a 13th body Saturday from the snow and ice covering dangerous climbing pass on Mount Everest, where an avalanche a day earlier swept over a group of Sherpa guides in the deadliest disaster on the world's highest peak.
Another three guides remained missing, and searchers were working quickly to find them in case weather conditions deteriorated, said Maddhu Sunan Burlakoti, head of the Nepalese government's mountaineering department.

MANILA -- President Benigno Aquino III has ordered the Department of Health (DOH) to mobilize a task force to create a heightened awareness among the public on the Middle East Respiratory Syndrome-Corona Virus (Mers-Cov).
Health Secretary Enrique Ona said Saturday the DOH is working closely with all concerned government agencies to ensure public health and safety. However, he said that there is no epidemic or outbreak of the Mers-Cov.
