Man dies in General Santos ship collision

A 60-YEAR-OLD man has died and six others were injured when a passenger vessel collided with a fishing vessel near Sarangani before dawn Friday.

The Philippine Coast Guard identified the fatality as Jovani Buntong, a former village leader in General Santos City.

A SuperFerry passenger vessel was leaving the port of Sarangani when it collided with a fishing vessel manned by Buntong and six companions.

Due to the collision, the fishing boat was destroyed and immediately sank, a radio report said.

Six fishermen were wounded in the collision and were brought to a hospital in General Santos City.

Investigation is ongoing. (Sunnex)
