THE Philippine National Police (PNP) arrested a leader of the al-Qaeda-linked Abu Sayyaf group in Lamitan City in Basilan on Friday.
PNP spokesman Chief Superintendent Agrimero Cruz said Abu Sayyaf leader Kule Mamagong, alias Molis Tahsin and Kule, was arrested around 12:15 a.m. Friday in Tandung Ahas village.
Cruz said Mamagong, who used to work under the late Abu Sayyaf chieftain Abdurajak Janjalani, was arrested for multiple murder and multiple frustrated murder charges, Cruz said.
The arrested leader was allegedly involved in the 2006 bombing incident in Kidapawan City.
Cruz said the suspect was brought to Zamboanga City for documentation and proper disposition. (VR/Sunnex)
