Arroyo seeks permission to visit brother-in-law's wake

DETAINED Pampanga Representative Gloria Arroyo has asked the court to allow her to visit the wake of her brother-in-law Negros Occidental Representative Ignacio "Iggy" Arroyo and attend his burial.

Arroyo's camp filed Thursday an urgent petition before the Pasay City Regional Trial Court branch 112 while arrangements are being made for the return of the lawmaker's remains in the country.
Arroyo, who is facing a non-bailable case of electoral sabotage, is now on hospital arrest at the Veterans' Memorial Medical Center (VMMC) in Quezon City.
Iggy was the younger brother of the former leader's husband, lawyer Jose Miguel "Mike" Arroyo.
The Negros Occidental lawmaker died Thursday night in London after his life support system was pulled out. He earlier suffered a heart attack while undergoing treatment for a liver disease.
The Arroyo family said Iggy's remains are expected to be brought in the country this weekend. (Sunnex)
