Aquino inspects quake-hit Negros Oriental

PRESIDENT Benigno Aquino III is now in Negros Oriental province to inspect areas that were badly hit by a magnitude 6.9 earthquake on Monday.

A radio report said Aquino, joined by his sisters Ballsy and Pinky, arrived at Dumaguete City airport past 10 a.m. Wednesday.
The President has boarded a presidential chopper to conduct an aerial inspection in Guihulngan City, towns of Jimalalud, La Libertad and Tayasan.
The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC), in its 8 a.m. Wednesday report, recorded 26 fatalities all from Negros Oriental.
The dead include 13 in Guilhungan, four in Jimalalud, three in Tayasan, one each in Bindoy, Bais, and Ayungon, and three in La Libertad.
The 6.9-magnitude tremor occurred at 11:49 a.m. Monday at five kilometers northwest of Tayasan.
The Aquino siblings will reportedly return to Manila on the afternoon. (Sunnex)
