DepEd to superintendents: Provide radio in schools
Wednesday, February 8, 2012
CEBU CITY -- The Department of Education (DepEd) in Central Visayas urged all school superintendents in the entire region to provide transistor radios in schools.
DepEd Assistant Director Carmelita Dulangon said transition radios are effective in disseminating information like class suspension.
Dulangon said schools must have radio monitors to access information fast and to avoid miscommunication during calamities.
She said lack of information results in miscommunication.
DepEd's call came after Monday's 6.9-magnitude earthquake that struck Negros and Cebu islands.
Several schools in the city suspended classes today due to aftershocks past 8 a.m. (Sunnex)
