Cebu city to give P1M to Negros quake victims

THE Lapu-Lapu City Government will donate P1 million to Negros Oriental for the victims of the 6.9-magnitude earthquake.

Mayor Paz Radaza reportedly said they will give the money to the Department of Social Welfare and Development-Central Visayas for the quake victims.

The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC), in its 6 a.m. Thursday report, recorded 43 fatalities all from Negros Oriental.

The NDRRMC also recorded 112 people injured and 63 others still missing.

It said the quake affected 52,126 families or 261,100 individuals in Central Visayas.

The 6.9-magnitude tremor that occurred at 11:49 a.m. last February 6 at five kilometers northwest of Tayasan was set off by movement in an undersea fault. (Sunnex)
