Low pressure area to make landfall in Mindanao
Thursday, February 16, 2012
STATE weather forecaster said a low pressure area (LPA) is expected to make landfall in southern Mindanao anytime Thursday.
Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) officer-in-charge Graciano Yumul said the LPA will no longer become a tropical cyclone as it already weakened but it will hit land.
As of 2 a.m. Thursday, Pagasa estimated the LPA to be 100 kilometers east of southern Mindanao.
Yumul said the LPA will still bring rain in different parts of the country.
He added the LPA may become a cyclone once it exits Philippine Area of Responsibility on Saturday. (Sunnex)
