PRC suspends ID processing
Thursday, February 23, 2012
MANILA -- The Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) announced Thursday that the printing and issuance of professional identification (ID) cards is being suspended temporarily.
In an advisory, the PRC expressed regret in the inconvenience it will cause to the people expecting to get their IDs during this time.
"The said delay is due to the failure of bidding for a service provider to print professional identification cards," PRC said.
It said the suspension period is effective from February 16 until, at least, March 30.
"The Commission shall resume operations for printing and issuance of PRC IDs as soon as the contract is awarded to a service provider," it added.
The PRC holds the mandate of issuing IDs to registered professionals such as accountants, architects, engineers, doctors, nurses, teachers, pharmacists, optometrists, and physical therapists, among others.
The PRC ID is being used in applying for jobs, presentation of valid IDs as well as flushing out of fake professionals. (AMN/Sunnex)
