Cebu Ferry 1 catches fire off Batangas

PASSENGERS of Cebu Ferry 1 panicked when a fire hit a portion of the ship off Batangas province, Wednesday morning.

Philippine Coast Guard spokesperson Lieutenant Commander Algier Ricafrente said the ferry was headed for Caticlan, Aklan when it caught fire in Matuko Point.

Cebu Ferry 1 is operated by Cebu Ferries, a shipping company based in Cebu City.

Ricafrente said its two PCG boats and several roll-on, roll-off (Roro) vessels extinguished the fire.

No casualties were reported.

Investigation is ongoing. (Sunnex)
