MANILA (Updated 5:45 p.m.) -- The website of the Department of Budget and Management (DBM) was attacked again Wednesday night, eight hours after it was defaced by alleged Chinese hackers.
Budget Secretary Florencio Abad said the second attack on the DBM's website occurred around 10 p.m. Wednesday.
"The DBM website was once again subject to attack, resulting in a denial-of-service error that prevented users from accessing the site," he said.
Around 2 p.m. of Wednesday, unidentified parties defaced the budget agency's website, rendering it temporarily unavailable.
"Please be informed that the official website of the DBM is currently undergoing a security audit and may be inaccessible until critical issues are resolved," Abad said.
"Our initial findings show that all important data in the website have not been compromised, and we are taking additional measures to reinforce the security of our servers and prevent future attacks," he added.
The cyber attacks on Philippine and Chinese websites started as the tension in the Scarborough Shoal off West Philippine Sea continued. (SDR/Sunnex)
