THE community outpost of the 57th Infantry Battalion (IB) of the Philippine Army was attacked by rebels Sunday night in a village in North Cotabato, a radio report said.

The attack, which led to an exchange of fires that lasted for 10 minutes, took place in Barangay Kinarum in North Cotabato at 10:55 p.m., Bombo Radyo said.

The rebels, who are members of New People's Army, fled towards Mount Apo after knowing military forces were on their way to augment the 5th IB.

No one was reported hurt in the military's side, while it was not known whether there were wounded among the rebels. (Sunnex)
