US hospital ship in Calbayog City

USNS Mercy is now in Calbayog City for its two-week humanitarian and civic assistance mission in Samar.
The hospital ship, together with a Japanese carrier Oosumi, arrived around 4:50 a.m. in the city. The ships anchored approximately 1 to 1.5 miles from Calbayog City pier.
As of this writing, Mercy is offloading cargoes to the pier that will be used for its humanitarian missions in Catbalogan City and the towns of Silanga, Gandara, Carayman, Veriato, Malaga and San Isidro.
Mercy visited Cambodia, Vietnam, and Indonesia before coming to the Philippines as part of the two-month mission of the Pacific Partnership (PP) 2012 in the region.
Chile, Peru, Australia, Canada, New Zealand, France, Singapore, Korea, Thailand, Malaysia, and the Netherlands participated in this year’s PP
