MANILA -- Supreme Court Administrator Midas Marquez has immediately rejected his nomination to replace his former boss Renato Corona as Chief Justice on Friday.
Marquez was endorsed by a certain Egay Bigay, who also nominated Executive Secretary Paquito Ochoa Jr. last week. Ochoa turned down his nomination last Monday.
"Thank you for the nomination but I will have to decline it. I lack the wisdom, qualities and experience to be a Chief Justice,” Marquez said in a text message.
Marquez, 45, is currently the consultant of the Judicial and Bar Council (JBC), the constitutional body tasked to screen nominees for all judicial posts. (Virgil Lopez/Sunnex)
