MANILA -- Even if the low pressure area (LPA) already dissipates, the Western Visayas and Luzon including Metro Manila can expect rain due to southwest monsoon or “habagat,” the state weather bureau said on Thursday.
Weather forecaster Aldczar Aurelio said the LPA dissipated Wednesday night, thus the weather finally began to improve in Metro Manila and parts of Southern Luzon.
So far, Aurelio said there is no weather disturbance seen outside the Philippine territory.
In its advisory, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said the whole country will experience mostly cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms becoming cloudy with widespread rains over the western section of Central and Southern Luzon that may trigger flash floods and landslides.
Residents living in low-lying areas and along mountain slopes are advised to be on alert for possible occurrence of flash floods and landslides, it said.
Moderate to strong winds blowing from the southwest to south will prevail over Luzon and Western Visayas and the coastal waters along these areas will be moderate to rough.
Elsewhere, winds will be light to moderate coming from Southeast to South with slight to moderate seas. (PNA/Sunnex)
