MANILA -- President Benigno Aquino III on Thursday visited the wake of the late King of Comedy Rodolfo "Dolphy" Quizon Sr.
Aquino arrived at The Heritage Park in Taguig City around 5:30 p.m. to pay his last respect to Dolphy, who died of multiple organ failure at the Makati Medical Center last Tuesday.
The President declined to grant interviews during his visit and left at 5:45 p.m.
Aquino was accompanied by Local Government Secretary Jesse Robredo and Transportation and Communications Secretary Manuel Roxas II.
Veteran actress Gloria Romero, one of Dolphy's closest friends, appreciated Aquino's effort to personally comfort the comedian's family and friends.
"It was so sweet of him to drop by. We didn't expect it. He shook my hands and I was tongue-tied because I got shy. All of us were mesmerized," she said in an ambush interview.
Aside from the President, showbiz personalities like Bembol Roco, Daniel Fernando, Dennis Padilla, Christian Bautista, Maria Isabel Lopez, Rosa Rosal and director Eddie Romero also paid their last respect to the King of Comedy on Thursday. (Kathrina Alvarez)
