LIKE in the past, the day of the State of the Nation Address (Sona) of President Benigno Aquino III will not be declared as a holiday.
Aquino is set to deliver his third Sona on July 23.
“There will be no declaration of a holiday. I haven’t heard of any discussion to make it a non-working holiday,” deputy presidential spokesperson Abigail Valte said in a radio interview Sunday when asked about plans of declaring July 23 as a holiday.
Valte said the President is reviewing the fifth draft of his speech.
The Sona is a constitutional duty of the President where he addresses the Congress at the opening of its regular session at every fourth Monday of July.
Aside from the speech, the wardrobe of the President is also being prepared, according to Valte.
She confirmed that veteran designer Paul Cabral will again dress up the country’s Chief Executive.
Cabral is the favorite designer of Aquino’s late mother former President Corazon Aquino.
He also made the gowns of Aquino’s four sisters during the first Sona. (Jill Beltran/Sunnex)
