FEU beats La Salle in a close game-A A +A

PERENNIAL contender Far Eastern University (FEU) saw itself in a familiar situation again, hacking out a slim 48-46 win against De La Salle University (DLSU) in the 75th UAAP men’s basketball tournament Sunday.
FEU, which managed a come-from-behind victory over University of Santo Tomas UST) last week, turned to guard Cris Tolomia as he buried a jumper with 47.6 seconds left. Veteran Almond Vosotros tried to steal the win through a three-point shot but missed.
Despite sporting a 2-0 card, Tamaraws coach Bert Flores admitted some cracks in the performance of his wards and the game could have gone either way if La Salle’s top guns LA Revilla and Luigi dela Paz were present.
“We have to improve on our rebounds, assists. Again, I think we’re just lucky to win this one,” Flores told reporters at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.
Game statistics however showed that FEU had 10 assists while La Salle registered zero. But the Tamaraws hauled nine boards below the Archers’ 49.
Terrence Romeo finished with 10 points and five rebounds, while Tolomia and Anthony Hargrove tallied seven markers each. Rookie sensation JeronTeng was held to only six points despite playing for 31 minutes for La Salle, which slipped to second place at 2-1. (Virgil Lopez/Sunnex)
