MANILA -- Malacañang on Tuesday condoled the passing away of Vicente de Lima, the father of Justice Secretary Leila de Lima.

The 83-year-old former commissioner of the Commission on Elections (Comelec) ended his battle with colon cancer last Monday afternoon.

"We would like to convey our sincerest condolences to the family of Secretary de Lima on the passing of her father, former Comelec Commissioner Vicente B. de Lima. We got word that last Monday the former Comelec commissioner passed away and again our sincerest condolences with the family and friends of the late Vicente de Lima," deputy presidential spokesperson Abigail Valte said.
