MANILA -- Basketball games scheduled on Wednesday were suspended by the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) as a result of strong rains that battered Metro Manila since Sunday night.
"Due to bad weather and floods all over, UAAP games for Wednesday, August 8, 2012, are hereby postponed. To be rescheduled on a later date," tournament director Junel Baculi of host National University said in a text message.
Affected are the following men's and women's basketball matches: La Salle versus Adamson and University of the East versus University of Santo Tomas (men's); University of the Philippines versus Far Eastern University and University of Santo Tomas versus Ateneo de Manila University (women's).
These games are originally set to be played at the Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City from 10:15 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Last July 21, the UAAP was forced to cancel the men's basketball games featuring FEU versus UE and UP versus UST because of inclement weather.
The UAAP, now on its 75th season, moved the said matches to August 15 also at The Big Dome. (Virgil Lopez/Sunnex)
