YANGON, Myanmar — Myanmar opposition leader Aung San Suu Kyi has met with the president for their first talks since the Nobel Peace Prize laureate became a member of parliament.

A government official says the meeting Sunday lasted two hours. He spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to speak to the media.

Other details were not immediately available.

Suu Kyi has met twice before with President Thein Sein, most recently in April. That meeting followed by-elections won by Suu Kyi's party but preceded her entry to parliament.

Suu Kyi was recently named head of a 15-member parliamentary committee that is to help implement rule of law in the country.

She and President Thein Sein are key players in Myanmar's political transformation after a half century of military rule. (AP)
