'Igme' slightly weakens as it moves towards Taiwan

MANILA -- Typhoon “Igme” (International name: Tembin) slightly weakened as it continues to move towards Taiwan on Wednesday, the state weather bureau said.
In its 5 p.m. bulletin, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said Igme was spotted 290 kilometers (km) northeast of Basco, Batanes.
The typhoon has maximum sustained winds of 130 kilometer per hour (kph) near the center and gustiness of up to 160 kph.
The Batanes Group of Islands remains under storm signal number 2. Residents in this area will experience winds of 61-100 kph.
Pagasa said Igme carries about 10 to 15 millimeters per hour of rainfall within its 550 kilometer diameter coverage.
Typhoon “Igme” is expected to be at 260 km north of Basco, Batanes by Thursday afternoon and 370 northwest of Basco, Batanes or outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility by Friday afternoon. (Sunnex)
