Magnitude-5.9 quake hits off Sultan Kudarat

MANILA (2nd Update, 3:45 p.m.) -- An earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 5.9 struck Monday afternoon off Sultan Kudarat, state volcanologists said.
The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) aid the quake struck at 2:49 p.m. 67 kilometers west of Palimbang, Sultan Kudarat.
The United States Geological Survey (USGS) monitored the tectonic quake at 92 kilometers southwest of Bantogon, Sultan Kudarat.
Phivolcs said no damage was reported but aftershocks are expected.
The quake was also felt in the cities of Cotabato, Zamboanga, and Kidapawan.
A magnitude 7.7 earthquake struck Eastern Visayas last Friday. The quake, which was also felt in Northern Mindanao, killed an old woman and injured her grandson in Cagayan de Oro City. The quake damaged P14 million worth of properties, disaster officials said. (Sunnex)
