2 die in Cebu landslide

CEBU CITY (Updated 8:50 p.m.) -- Two persons died in Cebu province due to landslide brought by heavy rains, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) reported on Wednesday.
NDRRMC Executive Director Benito Ramos identified the fatalities as Dionisio Vilarmia, 42, and his wife Juliana, 47, after their house in Sitio Pangilatan, Barangay Cantao-an, in Naga City, Cebu were buried in a landslide around 6:20 p.m. Tuesday.
NDRRMC said that Juliana died on the spot after being hit by a boulder. Her body was recovered under the rubble around 8 p.m., while Dionisio died after being rushed to the Minglanilla District Hospital.
The couple's four children survived the landslide. They were transferred under the care of the city's social welfare and development office.
The couple and their children were about to sleep when the incident happened, Naga City Police Office said.
The landslide occurred at the height of heavy rains in the province and parts of Luzon and Visayas on Tuesday evening. (PNA/Sunnex)
