MALACAÑANG welcomed Wednesday the confirmation of Ramon Jimenez at the Commission on Appointments (CA) as Secretary of the Department of Tourism (DOT).
"We thank the swift action of the CA in confirming Secretary Mon Jimenez," Presidential spokesperson Edwin Lacierda said. "As the President said it is more fun to have Mon Jimenez in DOT."
The nomination of Jimenez was approved by the CA as no formal opposition was made against his appointment.
Lacierda, meanwhile, said the appointment papers of Cavite Representative Joseph Emilio Abaya as Transportation and Communications chief were already transmitted by the Office of the President to the CA.
The remaining Cabinet secretaries who have not been confirmed by the CA yet include Environment Secretary Ramon Paje, Justice Secretary Leila de Lima, Social Welfare Secretary Corazon Soliman and Local Government Secretary Manual Roxas II.
The nomination papers of Roxas as replacement of the late Secretry Jesse Robredo were already transmitted to the CA, Malacañang said.
Robredo was killed in a plane crash off Masbate on August 18. (Jill Beltran/Sunnex)
