UST in beach volley finals

MANILA -- University of Santo Tomas (UST) will have another shot of retaining its women's beach volleyball championship in the 75th UAAP season after sweeping the seven-game eliminations on Wednesday at the University of the East-Caloocan sand court.
That victory came at the expense of the power duo of Ateneo de Manila's Fille Cainglet and Alyssa Valdez as UST's Judy Caballejo and Maru Banaticla nipped them via 21-19, 21-19 decision. Caballejo is also the tournament's reigning MVP.
By skirting the semifinal phase, the Tigresses will hold a thrice-to-beat advantage, where they only need to win twice to bag the crown. UST will face the winner of the La Salle-Adamson playoff for the last championship berth on Saturday.
