Rains over the Visayas, Mindanao due to ITCZ-A A +A
Saturday, September 8, 2012
MANILA -- The low pressure area (LPA) off Surigao provinces dissipated early Saturday morning, but an inter-tropical convergence zone (ITCZ) will bring rains affecting the Visayas and Mindanao, the state weather bureau said.
An ITCZ is a merge of winds from different directions, which is also a breeding ground for an LPA.
Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said that at present, there is no weather disturbance monitored near the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR).
Pagasa said Palawan, the Visayas and Mindanao will have mostly cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms while the rest of Luzon, including Metro Manila, will be partly cloudy to cloudy with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms, mostly in the afternoon or evening.
The weather agency said that moderate to strong winds blowing from the northeast will prevail over Northern Luzon with moderate to rough seas. (Sunnex)
