ITCZ to bring rains over Visayas, Mindanao
-A A +ASunday, September 9, 2012
AN INTER-TROPICAL convergence zone (ITCZ) may bring rains to Visayas and Mindanao on Sunday, the state weather bureau said.
An ITCZ is a merge of winds from different directions, which is also a breeding ground for a low pressure area.
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said that due to the ITCZ, Southern Luzon, the Visayas and Mindanao will have mostly cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms.
The rest of country will be partly cloudy to cloudy with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms, mostly in the afternoon or evening.
Moderate to strong winds blowing from the northeast will prevail over Central Luzon with moderate to rough seas.
Elsewhere, light to moderate winds coming from the southwest to southeast will prevail and the coastal waters along these areas will be slight to moderate.
Pagasa said that so far, there is no weather disturbance monitored near the Philippine Area of Responsibility. (PNA)
