MANILA -- Malacañang said on Sunday that the Philippine government can guarantee the safety of American envoys and personnel working in the country despite an attack on an American embassy in Libya last week that resulted in the death of the ambassador and three of his staff there.

In a press briefing aired over government radio dzRB Radyo ng Bayan, Deputy Presidential Spokesperon Abigail Valte said the law enforcement agencies have mobilized more of their forces to ensure the safety of Filipinos and foreigners in the country.

“Yes the government can guarantee the safety of the US Embassy...In fact, General (Leonardo) Espina of the NCRPO (National Capital Region Police Office) has already inspected the increased police presence outside the US Embassy,” Valte said.

“So there’s no need to flee. There’s no danger against them here in Manila and in the Philippines,” she added. (Sunnex/PNA)
