SUBIC BAY FREEPORT -- A Pygmy Sperm Whale that was stranded in Barangay Beddeng, San Narciso, Zambales on Sunday died Monday afternoon despite efforts to save it by marine experts from Ocean Adventure.
Rio Cercado, of the Ocean adventure, said the sperm whale died minutes after it was treated by Dr. Lem Aragones of the Philippine Marine Mammal Stranding Network Monday morning.
The weak whale had wounds all over its body, said Aragones.
It was not clear, however, how many days the whale was stranded in San Narciso but Dr. Aragones said that it could have been near the shoreline for a couple of days already.
The sperm whale will be taken to the Ocean Adventure and experts will determine the cause of its death. (Anthony Bayarong)
