MANILA -- The United States Embassy has advised all Americans in Manila to be vigilant as local groups are expected to stage demonstrations on Friday for the 40th anniversary of Martial Law declaration.
In a security advisory, American citizens in the country were particularly warned for the mass actions that may occur at various locations in Metro Manila, including the vicinity of the US Embassy.
"The Embassy reminds US citizens that even demonstrations that are meant to be peaceful can suddenly become violent and unpredictable. US citizens should be alert, pay attention to local news media, and avoid demonstration areas if at all possible," the advisory said.
The Embassy also reminded its citizens of the continuing threat of terrorist actions and violence against Americans throughout the world.
"As global reactions continue to certain anti-Islam videos and to violent attacks on US missions worldwide, the US Embassy urges US citizens to exercise extra vigilance at all times," the Embassy said. (Emmanuel Louis Bacani/Sunnex)
